We traveled via mini-bus from Yangshou via Guilin to Longsheng (3 hours) and from there on into to mountains to the little famous village of Ping-an. Ping-an is situated on the rice terraces on the mountain side. The views are breath taking. We took a 2 hour hike to a vista point. And met with some local Chinese students and it gave us the opportunity to practice some more Chinese.
The next morning we ventured on a 3,5 hours hike tour through the rice fields to the village of Long Li. The grand mother of the hotel owner, who spoke no English acted as our guide, so the bit of Chinese we knew once again came in handy. The hike was great and our guide was lovely and amazingly skilled in maneuvering the small and sometimes slippery paths through the rice fields.[Photoset here]
